Textured abstract landscape in muted blue, grey and violet. A small cream-and-ochre sun sits above and right of centre within pale yellow light. Broad shadowed forms flank a winding central opening, with a brighter patch of gold near the bottom.
Pale blue, ivory and soft yellow spread across the upper part of the painting. A small, roughly circular sun of cream and ochre sits above and slightly right of centre, surrounded by a diffuse halo of cool blue and yellow. Peach and orange strokes drift across the upper left, with a stronger orange accent above the halo.
Below, broad grey-violet forms occupy both sides. The left mass slopes down towards the middle; the larger right mass stretches across much of the lower-right half. Between them, an irregular passage of pale blue-green, cream and muted gold winds through the centre.
This opening narrows beneath the sky, bends around overlapping grey shapes, then brightens into yellow-orange near the lower centre. Fine grooves and short, interlacing ridges cover the surface, while thicker pale strokes trace parts of the central opening. The subdued colours soften the boundaries, suggesting a landscape glimpsed through haze.
A thread of light leads into the distance. It slips between quiet folds of land, disappears beneath a shadow, then returns as gold nearer our feet. Above, a pale sun holds its place in the haze. The way ahead reveals itself a little at a time, each small brightness enough to draw us onwards.
