Explorations of a Multisensory Landscape
28 November – 6 December 2026
Art & Collectors Gallery
Level 1, 165 Gertrude Street, Melbourne
Opening Saturday 28 November, 2–4 pm
MEMORY AND LIGHT brings together new paintings exploring Australian landscape through fading and fragmented vision, touch, sound and memory.
Drawing on my experience of progressive vision loss, the works explore what happens when landscape is no longer apprehended through sight alone. Fragments of colour, light and form are reconstructed through memory and perception; textured surfaces invite touch, while sound and tactile elements extend the landscape beyond the visual.
What disappears from vision persists in memory. Light becomes material; paint becomes something to be experienced as much as observed.
A Multisensory Exhibition
MEMORY AND LIGHT is designed to be experienced through more than sight. Visitors are invited to encounter selected works through touch, alongside raised-line drawings, tactile artist books, audio description and sound.
These elements offer different ways of entering the landscapes and experiencing their surfaces, forms and atmospheres. Accessibility is not an addition to the work. It is part of its language.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities — 3 December
On Thursday 3 December, MEMORY AND LIGHT will mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a special exhibition event focusing on multisensory art, access and the experience of landscape beyond sight.
Visitors will be invited to explore the tactile paintings, raised-line works, multisensory artist books, sound and audio elements that form part of the exhibition.
Event details and time to be announced.
