The Moon Holds Still

Textured abstract landscape in blue, silver-grey and charcoal. A small white moon left of centre is surrounded by sweeping curved grooves. Grey-brown forms fill the upper area, with dark, raised ridges across the foreground.

The moon is a thick, irregular disc of white and silver, positioned left of centre. Broad curves spread around it through muted blue, their fine parallel grooves catching pale highlights. The blue deepens towards the right edge. Above, grey, taupe and faint pink overlap in rough folds. Across the lower portion, charcoal and blue-grey masses rise in broken ridges, edged with cream and occasional ochre. These forms suggest a landscape without fixing its boundaries. The moon remains distinct within the surrounding movement.

The land folds into darkness, but the moon holds its place. Around it, blue carries the slow turning of the night. We pause beside that small light, letting the distance remain unknown. For this moment, there is somewhere for the gaze, or the imagining mind, to rest.
