The Blue Hour

A small raised pink disc sits within a broad golden glow just right of centre. Vivid blue frames the upper edges, and a narrow streak of green and gold descends between dark, textured slopes.

Textured abstract landscape with a small peach-coloured sun above and right of centre, surrounded by a broad golden halo. Bright blue borders both sides. Rust-brown and navy foreground forms frame a narrow blue-green and yellow opening near the lower centre.

A broad oval of cream, pale yellow and gold fills much of the centre-right. Within it, a small peach-pink sun sits above the middle of the painting, edged with orange and ochre. Curving marks ripple around the sun through the luminous colour.

Vivid blue occupies the upper corners and outer edges, mingling with turquoise and muted violet. On the left, a tall, irregular band of rust, brown and olive descends from the top towards the foreground, separating the blue edge from the golden centre.

Dark navy and reddish-brown forms gather across the lower third. The right-hand mass slopes towards a narrow opening below the light, where blue-green, yellow and cream extend to the bottom edge. This passage suggests a distant valley or a broken reflection. Fine winding grooves, small raised flecks and broader ridges cover the surface, giving the glowing centre and shadowed edges equally intricate textures.

Blue gathers at the edges of the day, while a last warmth lingers over the land. The small sun rests inside its golden echo; below, earth colours deepen into rust and shadow. A cool thread runs towards us through the foreground. We stay a moment longer, watching the warmth recede and feeling the evening widen around it.
