Textured abstract landscape with a small white sun above and left of centre, surrounded by brilliant yellow and orange light. Gold sweeps across the lower half, framed by deep blue-black shadows, with cream and violet passages on the right.

A small, roughly circular white sun glows above and to the left of centre. Around it, pale yellow intensifies into lemon, gold and burnt orange, forming a broad, irregular column of light. Deep midnight blue and near-black surround this luminous opening, spreading across the upper corners and gathering again at the lower right.

Below the sun, rust-red strokes cross the golden field. Broad patches of amber and yellow extend through the foreground, interrupted by dark channels. On the right, a broken band of cream, pale pink and violet lies beneath scattered streaks of gold.

Throughout the painting, thick paint forms ridges, grooves and curling marks. These catch the light across both bright and shadowed areas. The landscape remains indistinct: its forms emerge through colour and texture rather than a sharply defined horizon.

Before the land takes shape, light arrives. A white spark opens within the darkness, spilling gold into folds of an uncertain landscape. Shadows linger at its edges, holding places that have yet to become visible. It is the brief threshold between sensing a world and recognising it—when light is already present, and the land is still becoming.
